INDIANAPOLIS — Investigators are asking for the public's help to find the person responsible for intentionally setting a fire they say could have killed several people if it weren't for rescue crews.
Firefighters were called to the Fisherman's Village Apartments at 7460 Waterfront Drive on Friday, March 29 fora fire with multiple people trapped inside.
According to a tweet by the Wayne Township Fire Department, arriving firefighters found multiple people on the third floor trapped in heavily charged smoke. Crews were able to rescue those people from balconies of the apartment complex. No injuries were reported.
Fire investigators later determined that the fire was intentionally set in a common hallway. The location of the fire is what made it impossible for anyone living on the third floor to escape.
Investigators are now asking for the public's help to find the person(s) responsible for setting the fire.
If anyone has information about the person(s) responsible for the fire, investigators ask that you call 1-800-382-4628.
A $5,000 reward is being offered for any information that leads to an arrest.
