MARION — A man recently convicted in the 2019 murder of a 65-year-old Marion woman and the wounding of her grandson has been sentenced to 44 years in prison.
Cheryl Mann was shot to death at her Marion home on March 9, 2019. Her 30-year-old grandson, Jonathon Lovell, was wounded.
A few hours after the incident, 32-year-old William McCarty was arrested after police were tipped off about his whereabouts.
At the time, Marion Police said the shooting appeared to have stemmed from an argument involving Lovell and McCarty.
A 13-year-old boy who was sleeping in the home at the time of the shooting was not hurt, according to police.
