INDIANAPOLIS — The new mandate for body cameras was one of several measures announced by Governor Eric Holcomb, R-Indiana, to address racial injustice in Indiana.

The governor also says his plan will create a new cabinet position — the "Chief Equity, Inclusion and Opportunity Officer."

Holcomb also says he will add civilians to the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Board, which oversees the state's top police training site.

With this new plan, Holcomb wants recommendations from multiple agencies to make sure workforce programs are accessible to all. WRTV spoke to the president of Martin University, who had discussions with the governor about these issues.

President Sean Huddleston is also working with Mayor Joe Hogsett, D-Indianapolis, to review the protests in downtown Indianapolis. He and two others are expected to release their findings by December.

Listen to what Huddleston had to say in the video above.
