INDIANAPOLIS — Metallica not only made a stop in Indianapolis on Monday night - they made history.

An audience count of 18,274 fans attended the heavy metal band's WorldWired Tour concert at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, according to a release by the Indianapolis sports and entertainment venue.

Bankers Life Fieldhouse hosts more than 550 events a year, with more than 1.7 million visitors.
