BLOOMINGTON — A woman who was struck by a vehicle while crossing a Bloomington street Monday night has died, according to police there.

Initially, police issued a public call for help in identifying the woman because she had no identification and was too seriously injured to talk to investigators. Police released a photo of a distinctive tattoo on the victim, hoping it might be recognized.

She has since been identified and her name will be released when next-of-kin are found.

The incident happened around 7 p.m. Monday. Bloomington police say the woman was not using a crosswalk when she was hit. The driver of the vehicle called 911, stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Initially, the victim's condition was listed as critical, but she later died, according to police.
