Bloomington PD investigating rape on city's west side

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Bloomington police are investigating a reported rape on the city’s west side early Wednesday.

A woman told police she was walking along the road in the 2300 block of West 3rd Street around 3 a.m. Wednesday when a man asked her for a cigarette.

The woman said she gave him one, at which point he attacked her and took her behind a business, where he raped her.

The woman described the suspect as in his 20’s or 30’s. A more detailed description was not immediately available.

Police said the woman was transported to the hospital for a medical examination.
