BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana University has issued a cease and desist to Chi Omega – Theta Beta Chapter due to an ongoing investigation into allegations made against the chapter.
The duration of the cease and desist is unknown at this time.
The chapter will be allowed to complete recruitment, which is ongoing, but cannot hold meetings or parties, according to Chuck Carney, director of media relations at Indiana University.
In a statement emailed to RTV6 Saturday evening, Carney said the national council of Chi Omega decided not to finish recruitment.
“We will partner with the University as the investigation and due process continue,” Chi Omega said in a statement emailed to RTV6.
Additional details about the allegations made against the chapter were not released.

The Chi Omega Executive Headquarters was made aware yesterday that Indiana University is currently investigating allegations involving our Theta Beta Chapter. During the investigation, some chapter activities have been postponed, though the extent to which is still unknown at this time. We will partner with the University as the investigation and due process continue. Chi Omega Fraternity does not tolerate harassment, hazing, or bullying of any kind and prohibits any activity that endangers the mental or physical health or safety of a person. In fact, Chi Omega members are educated on expectations for membership, and as a condition of membership, each individual bears the personal responsibility to abide by applicable federal, state and local laws and college/university rules and regulations, as well as Chi Omega policies, rules and procedures.
