BLOOMINGTON — A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries after a driver struck them Sunday evening near Indiana University in Bloomington.
The motorcyclist, who isn't affiliated with the university, was going eastbound on Atwater Avenue when they were struck by a driver going northbound on South Hawthorne Drive, IU Police Department Deputy Chief Shannon Bunger said in an email. The driver of the vehicle is a student at IU.
The motorcyclist was thrown from the motorcycle during the crash and was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, Bunger said. They did not have a stoplight or stop sign near the intersection and were wearing a helmet.
Indiana State Police troopers are assisting with a reconstruction of the crash, Bunger said.
The identities of those involved in the crash have not been released.
