MONROE COUNTY, Ind. -- A family in Monroe County says they've been trying for months to get the cemetery to finish engraving their grandfather's headstone.

Earl Ivan Jamison is buried at Valhalla Memory Gardens in Bloomington. His family says they've been waiting since July for the date of his death to be engraved on his headstone.

The frustrated family says they were told by the cemetery the date would be added, but they've been trying to get them to finish the gravestone for months without any luck.

They also say they were told by the cemetery they are not allowed to hire someone else to complete the service, but that the cemetery could not find someone to get the job done.

RTV6 reached out to cemetery managers who say they "fell short" of their standards and are now working to address the issue for the Jamison family.

Their statement is below.

"Valhalla Memory Garden's mission is to help families memorialize every life with dignity, including providing and maintaining a tranquil and beautiful place for memorialization. In this instance, we have fallen short of our standards. The matter is being addressed, and we want to reassure our families and the local community that we are committed to serving them and their loved ones."
