MONROE COUNTY, Ind. -- Three people are dead and multiple others were injured in a head-on crash in Monroe County early Sunday morning.

Deputies were called to the scene near West State Road and North Stinesville Road just after 7 a.m.

Investigators believe a Chevrolet Silverado crossed the center line and then over-corrected, causing a head-on crash with a Hyundai Santa Fe.

Two adults in the Santa Fe were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office has identified them as Michael Mascoe, 40, and Rhonda Mascoe, 45, of Spencer.

A 19-year-old passenger in the vehicle, Zoey Bennington, was taken to the hospital where she later died. Two other juveniles in that same vehicle were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

The driver of the Silverado was also taken to the hospital with what was believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

It is unclear if anyone will face any charges at this time.

The crash remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
