A plea for school supplies in Martinsville

Posted

MARTINSVILLE, Ind. -- The start of a new school year can be an anxious time for some students and their families, especially those who don't have the financial means to buy the many items needed in the classroom.

But the Community Foundation of Morgan County is offering help.

The organization is collecting school supplies and food items to distribute to families of Martinsville elementary, middle and high school students.

Donations are accepted until August 5 at the foundation's office, 56 North Main Street in Martinsville.

Supplies will be handed out on August 11 from 10 a.m. to noon at Hoosier Harvest Church, 4085 Leonard Road.

The first day of school in Martinsville is August 13.

Just about anything you can think of in the way of supplies is needed including new backpacks, pencils, pens, markers and index cards.

Easy to prepare food items such as peanut butter, granola bars, and applesauce cups are also being accepted.
