MARTINSVILLE, Ind. -- Martinsville science teacher Adam Peterson is joining a select group of educators.
Peterson, who works at John Wooden Middle School, was named an education advisory board member for Infiniscope, which is a space exploration program for schools.
Thirty teachers from across the country are on the board and their goal is to take a good hard look at the products, tools and student lessons used by the project.
Infiniscope recently received a $10 million grant from NASA.
Peterson said it’s an honor to be selected to the board.
"At our first meeting a couple of weeks ago, it sounds like it was pretty good competition across the country for these positions," he said.
Infiniscope is the brainchild of Arizona State University’s School of Earth and Space exploration.
“I really look forward to using the new products that ASU partnered with NASA and are looking to push out to schools across the country. It should be an interesting and fun experience and I cannot wait to get to work,” said Peterson.
He graduated from the University of Wisconsin and received a masters in science at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. Peterson has been working as a teacher in New Mexico and Indiana since leaving school.
