MOORESVILLE, Ind. -- Imagine going to the mailbox and finding a letter from the White House.
Abigayle Head, an eleven-year-old who is a fifth grader at Newby Elementary in Mooresville, recently received a letter from First Lady Melania Trump.
It was in response and thanking her for a note Abby wrote to a fellow fifth-grader, Barron Trump, son of the president.
Laura Head, Abby’s mom, explains how it all came about: “Abby decided over the summer it would be fun to write Barron Trump and see what living in the White House was like and to wish him well since he had to move from New York to a new home and school. She thought it would be great if he was given a gold go kart to ride in the White House grounds.”
It took a few months for a response to arrive, but when it did, Abby had the, “biggest and brightest smile,” according to her mom. “She jumped around like she was on fire for about ten minutes!”
Laura Head says the letter writing experience to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue confirmed to Abby that, “sometimes you just have to hope for the unexpected. It was wonderful the First Lady took the time to write a random little girl back expressing her appreciation of Abby’s concern for her family.”
