MOORESVILLE, Ind. – A partnership is expanding between schools and behavioral health advocates in order to improve the day-to-day life of students across the district.
Leaders with Mooresville Consolidated School Corporation say the district is teaming up with Adult and Child Health to add a behavioral health employee to the schools’ ranks.
The “Behavioral Health Coach/Clinician” would provide direct mental health services to students, families and groups, and would also train teachers and administrators on behavioral health.
That person would be added to the current staff of Adult and Child Health counselors who serve students at all seven Mooresville schools right now.
The coach/clinician would also stand by for crisis intervention and prevention services and help re-integrate students who are returning to classes after being in the hospital or a treatment facility.
“Providing these services will help strengthen our students and families as well as support our staff members as they strive to help every student reach his or her potential,” Superintendent Randy Taylor said.
This partnership lets Mooresville Schools become a pilot site for telehealth services for psychiatric subscribers.
Another new addition to the district: The introduction of The Incredible Years curriculum for kids in preschool through third grade.
“The Incredible Years” is a series of interlocking programs to look at behavior issues and promote student competence with their social, emotional and academic skills.
The district says these changes will kick off in the fall of 2018.
