INDIANAPOLIS -- At least four people were shot Wednesday night near Washington Park on the east side.

The shootings happened around 10:40 p.m. near the intersection of 34th Street and Keystone Avenue.

Two men were reportedly shot on the 3400 block of North Hillside Avenue. Another man was shot at a gas station at the 34th and Keystone intersection.

A fourth man was shot in the area and is being included in the initial investigation.

Police were reportedly looking for a maroon sedan in connection with the shootings.

All four victims are alive and recovering at hospitals.

The area is a portion of the city prone to violence. At least 10 people have been killed nearby this year – including 30-year-old Jokoby Scott, who was found fatally shot near the same intersection on Sunday.

Police believe despite the rash of violence, it’s a small number of people responsible for most of it.

We spoke to the owner of nearby business Grandma’s Kitchen, and she agrees.

“Everybody (is) trying to get an eye for an eye, you know, and it’s not working out – it’s just blood for blood. And for what? I don’t even think they know what they’re fighting for a this point,” Jacqueline Pepperhatton said. (Watch our video in the player above to hear more from Pepperhatton; she had a lot to say!)

Another man who lives nearby says the violence has him considering things he used to not even think about.

“I haven't really been a big Christian person but religion, man, is I think what will make it a lot better,” he said. “Fathers need to get in their kids’ lives.”

This area is one of the new IMPD beats that sees the same officers on the same streets.

Pastors in the area are planning a meeting Thursday evening to address the violence in the community.

This is a developing story. Check back with RTV6 for updates.
