SHELBYVILLE—Police in Shelbyville have a mystery on their hands.
A bullet landed inside a house in the 500 block of Howard Street, late Monday.
Who fired it and why are among the questions police are trying to answer.
Shelbyville Police Department Lieutenant Michael Turner says the bullet was fired into a front door, traveled through the living room, went through a wall into a second room and came to a rest when it struck another wall.
There were no injuries.
"At this time we are investigating where the bullet came from," said Turner. "Detectives are looking at the possibilities including this could have been accidental. Bullets can travel good distances after being fired and makes it difficult to find an origin."
Detectives were able to locate the fired bullet and have sent it to the Indiana State Police Lab for processing.
