INDIANAPOLIS—A leaking fire hydrant is causing concern among residents of a northeast side Indianapolis neighborhood.
They say the hydrant has been leaking for two months and they want Citizens Energy to do something about it.
The water ends up on the street, causing potholes and mud.
Resident Brian Schafer has called Citizens multiple times.
"I want them to come in and repair this hydrant below ground where this water is coming from, so we can stop having so much mud, water and pothole issues," he said. "Potholes are pretty bad in front of my house. My wife just lost an aluminum wheel on her car."
Citizens put a cover over the hydrant saying it is out of service.
But what about a fix?
Contacted by RTV 6, Citizens said repairs should be made next Wednesday or Thursday.
The utility said the block is protected in the event of fire because there is another hydrant about 450 feet from the broken one.
