NEW CASTLE — A New Castle man was killed Wednesday when he was ejected from his motorcycle.
According to a report from the Indiana State Police, New Castle police were called to the area of Broad and 21st streets around 7:40 p.m. Wednesday on report of a motorcycle crash. When officers arrived, they found a motorcycle down and a man laying in the driveway of a business with severe injuries.
Indiana State Police crash reconstruction investigators took over the investigation and found that Robert G. Jones III, 55, of New Castle, was riding his Yamaha motorcycle east on Broad Street when he came upon slowed or stopped traffic in the area of 21st Street. Troopers said Jones applied the brakes suddenly and was ejected over the handlebars.
Troopers said Jones was not wearing a helmet and died at a hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
