JOHNSON COUNTY—For some elementary school students in the Center Grove district of Johnson County, Tuesday will be more than the first day of classes. It's also opening day for the district's sixth elementary school.
Walnut Grove Elementary School is on Morgantown Road, about 1/2 mile south of State Road 144.
The school will be dedicated at 1:30 p.m. this Saturday, during a public open house from 1 to 3 p.m.
According to a press release from the Center Grove Community School Corporation, "The school features innovative learning spaces designed to provide flexibility for instruction, while creating a fun and engaging learning environment for students of today and tomorrow."
The school includes the district's first solar panel array, and prairie-themed landscaping surrounds the building.
