BLOOMINGTON — A new multi-million dollar program at Indiana University will investigate how information and misinformation spread online.

IU announced Monday that it will establish a $6 million research center to study the role of media and technology in society.

The school will call it the "Observatory on Social Media."

The new center will provide students, journalists and citizens with resources, data and training to identify and stop attempts to intentionally manipulate public opinion.
