MIAMI COUNTY — The driver of a minivan was injured when her vehicle crashed into the back of a stopped school bus in Miami County early Tuesday.

According to a report from the Peru post of the Indiana State Police, the crash happened shortly after 7:30 a.m. Tuesday on State Road 18 near Bennetts Switch.

Troopers said a Maconaquah School Corporation school bus was stopped picking up an 8-year-old student when the minivan crashed into the back of the bus. Neither the driver of the bus nor any of the 18 students on board the bus were injured.

The driver of the minivan, Sarah Watson, 28, of Galveston, was transported to Dukes Hospital for treatment of lacerations to her arms and legs, state police said.

The crash remains under investigation, however, neither drugs nor alcohol are suspected of being a factor in the crash, troopers said. Both drivers involved in the crash were wearing seat belts.
