Victim of deadly hit-and-run identified

INDIANAPOLIS -- One man was killed and a woman was hurt after a deadly hit-and-run crash on the city's south side Friday morning.

The single vehicle crash happened near Shelby Street and Norton Avenue just before 3:30 a.m. Friday.  

When police arrived, they found a black SUV in the front yard of a home in the 1100 block of Norton Avenue. 

The man, a passenger in the SUV, was pronounced dead at the scene. He's been identified as 39-year-old Ryan Ziemer.  A female passenger was taken to the hospital in serious, but stable condition.

The driver of the SUV ran from the scene after hitting a brick pillar. He is described as a white man is his 20s or 30s. 

Detectives have not released information about what caused the accident.
