INDIANAPOLIS — One person is dead and another critically injured following an early morning crash on Indianapolis' east side.
According to a report from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, an East District officer was sitting in a parking lot around 3 a.m. Monday and observed a vehicle traveling south on North Arlington Avenue at a high rate of speed. As the officer attempted to drive in the direction of the vehicle, he noticed the vehicle had crashed into another vehicle that appeared to be traveling east on East 10th Street.
Police said the driver of the vehicle that was struck was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle that was driving at a high rate of speed was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.
The crash remains under investigation.
