INDIANAPOLIS — A man died Friday night in a five-vehicle crash on Interstate 465 on the south side of Indianapolis.
According to information from Indiana State Police, troopers and emergency personnel were called to the crash at 7:39 p.m. at the 0.5 mile marker of I-465 near East Street.
State police said the man's vehicle struck a pickup that was hauling a camper and had broken down on the left shoulder of the roadway. The pickup was being hooked to wrecker truck when the vehicle driven by the crash victim left the roadway and struck the rear of the camper. The vehicle then spun back into the roadway and struck two other vehicles.
The man, whose identity has not been released, died at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
The eastbound lanes of I-465 were restricted for nearly three hours while the crash was investigated and the wreckage was removed, state police said.
