EDINBURGH — One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 65 in Shelby County early Sunday.
According to a report from the Indiana State Police, crews were called to Interstate 65 northbound near the 82 mile marker on report of a single-vehicle crash.
Around 2:45 a.m. Sunday callers to 911 reported a vehicle off the roadway with two occupants who were severely injured, troopers said. Shelby County Sheriff's Office deputies and medics were the first to arrive on scene and immediately requested a medical helicopter.
State police said Kenneth Cubbage Jr., 41, of Freetown, was pronounced dead at the scene. His mother, Connie Cubbage, 62, a passenger in the vehicle, was taken to Methodist Hospital where she is stable.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
