INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis City-County Council approved new restrictions on pedal pubs.

The pubs will be required to carry a license, like pedal cabs.

The proposal passed Monday night with a 20-2 vote.

Neighbors say the ordinance will solve the noise complaints and improve the pedal pub routes.

The license will also require pedal pubs to expand liability insurance to cover passengers if they get hurt.

Dan Eliason, the co-owner of Pickled Peddler, said in February he thinks the ordinance would put his company out of business eventually.

"If they want us to have a license then give us a license for 10 years or something like that," he said. "This license for one year is unnecessary."

The licenses are expected to cost about $70 per year.
