INDIANAPOLIS -- One person was killed in a crash on I-465 early Monday morning on Indianapolis's west side.

The crash happened around 3:30 a.m., on the ramp from the northbound lanes to 56th Street.

When police arrived, they found a 2004 BMW in the ditch.

The driver, Jose A. Rico Gonzalez, 20, was able to climb out from the crash before emergency crews arrived.

The passenger, Luigi Manzo, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe the BMW was driving too fast onto the 56th Street ramp when it ran off the road and rolled several times. A witness told police the car could've been traveling at more than 100 mph.

Officers also detected alcohol on the breath of the driver and a blood draw was conducted at the hospital, as with all serious crashes.

Gonzalez is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
