Plane crashes at Marion Municipal Airport

MARION — A plane crashed and caught on fire while landing Sunday evening at the Marion Municipal Airport.

Emergency personnel were called around 5:20 p.m. Sunday to the airport after an airplane crashed and caught on fire, Lynn Lunsford, FAA spokesman said.

Four people were on-board when the single-engine Cessna 182 crashed, according to preliminary information released by FAA.

FAA investigators are headed to the scene, according to Lunsford. NTSB will be in charge of the investigation.

No information on the status of those on board or identifying information on the aircraft have been released at this time.
