LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- After a man was arrested and preliminarily charged with domestic battery Monday, confinement and intimidation, police found a IED in his apartment.
Police in Lafayette, Indiana responded to a domestic battery complaint at about 1 p.m. They arrived and found a woman who said she had been battered. The suspect, Armando Guzman Jr., 42, ran from the apartment before police got there.
A couple hours later, police learned he had returned to the apartment. When police went back, they found and arrested Guzman.
After getting a search warrant, police found an unexploded Improvised Explosive Device. The apartments nearby were evacuated as a precaution, and the Tippecanoe County Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team was called.
The explosive didn't detonate and there were no injuries.
