INDIANAPOLIS — The U.S. Postal Service has closed and sealed several collection boxes near the Indiana Statehouse in advance of the potential for civil unrest.
The Postal Service on Friday said collection boxes inside the Indiana State Teachers Association and outside the building, two collection boxes inside the State Capitol Building, and the collection box adjacent to the State Capitol in the 100 block of North Senate Avenue have been sealed from Saturday through Jan. 20.
All of the boxes have information about the nearest collection box and Post Office where customers can drop off their mail during that time.
The Postal Service also said although mail deliveries will continue, there may be some disruptions in isolated areas that might experience civil unrest.
"We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the possible disruption of service," Acting Indianapolis Postmaster Dale Sparks said. "The safety and well-being of our employees and our customers is of paramount concern to us."
