GREENCASTLE, Ind.--  A Greencastle man is accused of showing up drunk to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department and then driving away.

Glenn Claxton, 55, came to the department requesting to speak with a detective but none were available, according to the agency.

The front office employees noticed Claxton appeared very intoxicated.

Deputies caught up with Claxton after he left the building and headed south on US 231.

Deputies gave Claxton field sobriety tests and a chemical test, and he tested nearly three times the legal limit, according to the agency.

Records show Claxton is facing two criminal misdemeanor charges for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, and operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .15 or more.

His trial is scheduled for January 30.
