Body found in Ft. Wayne related to Amber Alert death investigation, police investigating as homicide

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The body of a man found in Fort Wayne, Indiana is linked to Monday's Amber Alert investigation where two children were found dead. 

The body was found just before 2 a.m. Tuesday in a wooded area in the 6600 block of Wallen Road.

Police have identified the victim as Frank Macomber, 66. He died from a gunshot wound according to police who are investigating his death as a homicide. No one has been charged with his death. 

Macomber was part of an Amber Alert issued on Monday for two children who were later found dead in their mother's car.

Their mother, Amber Pasztor, has been charged with two counts of murder.

Elkhart police say an officer who was leaving the Elkhart Police Department around 5:25 p.m. was stopped by the children's mother, Amber Pasztor, who was driving the vehicle involved in the Amber Alert.

Pasztor told the officer that she had two dead people in the vehicle with her. Officers found two juveniles in the back seat of the vehicle. They were both pronounced dead at the scene. The two have not been formally identified but police believe they are the two children. hey have since been identified as Rene Pasztor and Liliana Hernandez. The Elkhart County coroner says the two died from asphyxiation. 

21Alive in Fort Wayne also reports that Rene Hernandez, the father of the two deceased children, was found dead in January 2010. His body was discovered in two pieces in the woods of Whitley County, Indiana, and it is unclear if anyone was arrested in connection to the death, according to 21Alive.
