INDIANAPOLIS -- The Ivy Tech Board of Trustees voted unanimously Wednesday to appoint Sue Ellspermann as next president of the college.
11 of the 14 board members were present for the vote.
I am honored to be named Ivy Tech Community College President. Previous presidents, like Tom Snyder and Gerald Lamkin, have built Ivy Tech into one of the nation's largest community colleges and, unquestionably, Indiana's most important workforce development institution. Indiana's economic success and worker prosperity are counting on Ivy Tech.
The former Lt. Governor will assume her new role on July 1.
Ellspermann says she was approached by a trustee about the position back in Aug. Took it to Governor. Says it "took awhile to convince him."

Ellspermann replaces retiring Tech President Tom Snyder who has served as president of Ivy Tech since 2007.
