INDIANAPOLIS — A west side grocery store has been temporarily closed due to health code violations.

According to a report from the Marion County Public Health Department, the Safeway at 3008 W. Kessler Boulevard North Drive was found to have rodent droppings on and under food preparation areas in the deli. In order to re-open, the store must exterminate the pests and rodents.

The report also cited the store for having soiled areas on the deli's oven and deep fryer, along with floors, walls and ceilings in the deli that are not smooth and easily cleanable. Safeway must also clean dirty areas around the store's dumpsters.

A sign on the front door the store says it is temporarily closed for cleaning and remodel.
