School resumes at Tri-West High School despite threat

Lizton, Ind. -- There is extra security on hand at all North West Hendricks Schools after a student made a threat against Tri-West High School over the weekend.

Officials did not release what the nature of the threat, but the student who made it has been expelled.

"I can assure you that the police and other officials have been involved in this situation and I have met with them to get their viewpoints and recommendations," Rusty King, the superintendent for the corporation, said.

King -- who is a parent of a student at Tri-West -- said it wasn't considered a "credible threat."

Despite that belief, the district still increased security at the schools, beginning Monday.

"Social media is a whole different process right now," Don Carlton, a parent of a student at Tri-West, said. "I know that the kids are on it all the time. A lot of times they say things with no repercussions but this time something was said that was inappropriate -- now they're going to have to face the consequences."

Criminal charges are being pursued against the student who made the threat.
