INDIANAPOLIS — A man died late-Wednesday in an apartment fire on the Indianapolis northeast side.
Firefighters were called at 7547 Rimwood before 10 p.m. That's near East 86th Street and North Hague Road.
The victim, a 62-year-old man, was dead at the scene, according to firefighters. Their identity has not been released.
A small fire on the first floor of the apartment was located by firefighters when they arrived, Indianapolis Fire Department Battalion Chief Rita Reith said in an email. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire.
There were no working smoke alarms in the unit, Reith said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
