SHELBYVILLE — The Shelby County Plan Commission approved new regulations Tuesday that would govern the installation of solar panel projects in the county.
The previous ordinance lacked details and was considered weak. Homeowners have been demanding elected leaders and the county board do more to make sure future solar projects are limited in size, operate safely, and protect prime farm land and property values.
The Plan Commission decision now goes to the Shelby County Commissioners for a vote—possibly as soon as next Monday.
Prior to the Tuesday evening Plan Commission meeting, WRTV's Rafael Sanchez talked about the issues with local residents.
