FLOYD TOWNSHIP — A family was uninjured and able to get out of their home when their smoke detector alerted them to a house fire early Saturday morning in Floyd Township.
Floyd Township Volunteer Fire Department firefighters and emergency personnel responded to the house fire in the Gettysburg subdivision, according to a Facebook post from the department.
The bedrooms and attic above the garage were damaged by the fire, but the whole house is considered a loss to due to the smoke, fire, and water damage, according to the post.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, according to the post.
Firefighters from Bainbridge, Fillmore, Greencastle, Amo, Stilesville, Danville, and Brownsburg, assisted with the fire. Personnel from Putnam County EMS, Putnam County Sheriff's Office deputies, and the American Red Cross were also called to the scene.
Friends have started a fundraiser on Facebook in an effort to help the family.
