SHELBY COUNTY — What appears to be a swimming accident has left a person in critical condition in Shelby County.
It happened just after 6 p.m. Monday at White Rock Park, about halfway between Shelbyville and Greensburg.
According to the Department of Natural Resources, a male swimmer at the park was reported missing.
Conservation Officers, Indiana State Police, Shelby County Sheriff’s Department and Shelbyville Fire Department arrived on scene and quickly began a search and rescue operation.
At about 7:12 p.m., a state police diver found the swimmer near the docks in 17 feet of water.
The swimmer was rushed to Major Health Partners Hospital in Shelbyville in critical condition. His identification is being withheld at this time.
