INDIANAPOLIS -- The best public high school in Indiana is also the third best public high school in the country, according to Niche.com, a website that helps parents discover the schools that are best for their kids.
The rankings released this week analyzed 18,000 public high schools and ranked them based on a variety of factors and several central Indiana schools are well represented on the top of the list.
No. 1 in Indiana is also No. 3 in the country: The Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics & Humanities on the campus of Ball State University in Muncie.
Niche.com gave the school a rating of A+ for great teachers, academics, health & safety and college readiness for students. The rankings were calculated based on a variety of factors. You can see those factors at the bottom of this story.
Carmel High School was ranked No. 2 in the state with neighboring Fishers High School ranked at No. 5.
Indianapolis was represented first at No. 7 with North Central, followed closely by No. 8 Herron.
