Thousands without power after strong winds move through Central Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS — Thousands of people are without power Sunday in Central Indiana as strong wind gusts moved through the area.

As of 6:30 p.m., 1,621 Indianapolis Power and Light Company customers are without power, according to an online outage map.

About 6 Duke Energy customers near Indianapolis are still without power, according to an online outage map.

About 8 Indiana Michigan Power customers in Madison County and about 75 customers near Muncie are without power, according to an online outage map.

Strong wind gusts reached up to 45 mph Saturday night and early Sunday morning in Central Indiana.
