INDIANAPOLIS — Thursday's severe weather is keeping electric utility crews busy and thousands of Marion and Hamilton County residents wondering when the lights will come back on.
As of 1 p.m. Friday, about 12,600 IPL and Duke Energy customers remained in the dark.
IPL has more than 9,800 homes and businesses without power, spread out across Marion County.
Duke Energy reports close to 2,800 outages in Hamilton County, most in or near Carmel.
At the peak of Thursday's storm, nearly 50,000 customers were without power in the two counties.
The storm blew through quickly Thursday evening, leaving downed trees and power lines in its wake.
Clean-up continued Friday with emergency crews asking residents to watch out for downed trees and power lines and report any issues they see.
