MIAMI COUNTY — Three people are dead after a two-car crash Friday morning in Miami County.

Indiana State Police troopers and emergency personnel were called to the crash just before noon near State Road 19 and County Road 500 South, ISP Sgt. Tony Slocum said in a press release.

Investigators believe Douglas Clinkenbeard, 53, of Elwood, was driving north on State Road 19 when he left the roadway, over-corrected, crossed the center of the road and struck another vehicle, Slocum said. He was not wearing a seatbelt and thrown from the car. He later died.

Nicolas Miller, 31, of Peru, was driving the other car and was also killed in the crash Slocum said. Paige Williamson, 18, of Peru, who was a passenger in Miller's car, was also killed in the crash.

Investigators believe Miller and Williamson were wearing their seatbelts, Slocum said.

Excessive speed by Clinkenbeard is believe to have contributed to the crash, Slocum said. The crash remains under investigation.
