WHITELAND — Cooper Tire and Rubber Company is bursting at the seams at its Franklin regional distribution center.

So, the Ohio-based company is moving up the road. In this case, about five-miles up Interstate-65 to Whiteland.

Ground has been broken for a larger distribution center. Very large. One million square feet. When it opens early next year, the employees working at the Franklin facility will all move to Whiteland.

"We are excited to build a larger regional distribution center in this key location to ensure we continue to provide our customers with exceptional service through enhanced logistics capabilities,” said Mike Calabro, Executive Director – North America Supply Chain for Cooper Tire. “Further, the dedicated workforce at the facility will remain in place, meaning we will be able to quickly transition to this new location with no interruption in the timely delivery of our products to customers.”

In Whiteland, Cooper says the company will have more capacity for product storage and benefit from a more modern design.

The regional distribution center is one of six the company has across the country. The Whiteland buiilding is one of many logistics facilities sprouting up along the I-65 corridor in Johnson County.
