NWS: Winds up to 100 MPH in Greenwood tornado

INDIANAPOLIS -- An EF-1 tornado touched down in Greenwood Wednesday and traveled for a quarter mile, damaging three homes and a veterinary hospital.

Possible tornadic activity was also reported in Decatur and Rush counties. Click on the video player above to see exclusive video of a possible tornado from Decatur County.

The damage was reported by a National Weather Service employee at 3:42 p.m. near Smith Valley Road and State Road 135 in Greenwood.

RTV6 viewer Mark Rasdall was in the area and reported damage to the roof of a veterinary clinic.

"We were in the med check on the east side [of Smith Valley Road and SR 135]," Rasdall said. "It just missed all of the plate glass windows in their lobby."

The NWS said the tornado's path was up to 75 yards at its widest. Wind speeds were estimated at 90-100 miles per hour.
