BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Delta Omicron Chapter of Tri Delta Sorority was shut down Saturday, according to the organization’s national executive board.
The IU Chapter was said to have been involved in activities that do not represent the organization.
"As a premier women's organization, Tri Delta is committed to helping women live, learn and lead. We hold our members to high standards in accordance with our purpose,” said Kimberlee Di Fede Sullivan, Tri Delta’s Fraternity President. "Following an investigation in which we confirmed that the members of our chapter at Indiana University have been involved in activities that do not represent our high standards or align with Tri Delta's Purpose, we have made the difficult decision to withdraw the chapter’s charter. We are deeply saddened by the choices made by members of our chapter at Indiana.”
The decision to shut down the chapter was made by the executive board and chapter volunteers, according to members of the organization.
"We will work closely with our collegiate members, our loyal alumnae and Indiana University through this challenging situation,” said Sullivan.
The Indiana Daily Student reports the sorority house will be vacated and members will have to find a new place to live.
