Two injured in serious crash in Tippecanoe County

TIPPECANOE COUNTY — A 72-year-old was seriously injured in a crash Saturday afternoon in Tippecanoe County.

Tippecanoe County Sheriff's deputies and emergency personnel were called around 2 p.m. on the report of a reckless driver, according to a press release from the sheriff's office. A short time later, the Clarks Hill Town Marshall, noticed a crash involving the alleged reckless driver near the 9000 block of State Road 28 East.

A 28-year-old man, believed to be the reckless driver, over corrected after leaving the roadway and struck a car driven by a 72-year-old woman head on, according to the release.

A 72-year-old woman, of Bluffton, who was the driver of the other car involved, was seriously injured, according to the release. She was taken to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis by a medical helicopter. A 59-year-old woman, of Lucerne, was taken to IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.

Authorities believe drugs and or alcohol are factors in the crash, according to the release.

The crash remains under investigation.
