INDIANAPOLIS -- One man who was rescued from the White River when his kayak overturned has died.
Family notified the Indianapolis Fire Department that Lawrance Morrissey, 48, of Fishers passed away on Sunday.
Morrissey and another man, 54, who has not been identified, were kayaking near Westfield Boulevard when their boat overturned around 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
The men were pulled under water and rescuers were able to pull one of the men from the water quickly. As they were crossing the water to take the first man to safety, the second man came up from the water and they were able to pull him into the boat as well.
According to IFD, the surviving kayaker's condition has greatly improved and he is doing well.
The incident remains under investigation by the Indianapolis Fire Department.
