INDIANAPOLIS — An update to the IUPUI campus master plan emphasizes sites to increase medical research and interdisciplinary studies, student housing, athletics and recreation facilities.
Plans for future developments, transportation, open space, and campus modifications, were updated in the plan, according to a news release from the university.
Changes to the plan will help incorporate new initiatives by its partners, like IU Health, since the 2012 plan was created, according to the release.
Updates to the plan include some of the following needs, according to the release:
- Sites for future medical research and interdisciplinary studies
- Moving the School of Medicine and Research from the campus to the IU Health Academic Health Campus, near West 16th Street and North Capitol Avenue
- Sites for additional student housing development, athletics and recreation facilities
- Renovations and reuse of legacy buildings
Plans for the IUPUI Sports District were incorporated into the updated plan.
The update to the 2012 IUPUI campus master plan was approved at a recent Indiana University Board of Trustees meeting.
