MOORESVILLE, Ind. -- A parachutist was injured when he missed his mark while participating in the Mooresville Fireworks Celebration on July 4th.

The celebration at Pioneer Park featured music, food, fireworks and four parachutists.

Brent Callahan, Superintendent for Mooresville Parks and Recreation, says one of the parachutists lost the wind in his chute as he approached the target zone.

He came in 50 to 75 feet short and hit a vehicle.

George Capitanio, owner and operator of Indiana Skydiving Center, says his group was hired for the show.

The injured parachutist is Steve Henderson of Lafayette.

Capitanio says Henderson has been skydiving since 1991.

He did injure his ankle and it will require surgery.

No one in the crowd was hurt.
